The Canada Day celebrations that will be taking place at LeBreton Flats Park and in the Ottawa and Gatineau downtown cores will be accompanied by the following services by the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) on Monday, July 1st.
Given that several interprovincial bridges and main streets will be closed to traffic, and with an eye to safety and traffic flow, the public carrier will only run on the Gatineau side. This decision aims to protect and secure the public transit service offered throughout the City of Gatineau. Consequently, all routes that normally serve downtown Ottawa (31, 33, 34, 37, 371, 38, 55, 59, 67 and 400) will stop at rue Laurier, near boulevard Maisonneuve. Riders will then be able to reach the Ottawa festivities by crossing the Portage Bridge on foot. Inspectors will be on hand, and information displays will be installed to help orient riders. The paratransit service to the Ottawa side will only be available for health and work reasons. Adapted trips to the Ottawa festivities will stop at the same place as the regular routes.
To ensure easier access, everyone will get to ride for free throughout the STO system (regular transit, paratransit and on-demand service) on Monday, July 1st. The Sunday service schedule will be in effect and the public is encouraged to study their options and plan their trips with Plani-Bus at www.sto.ca.
