Universal accessibility plan

Towards a more accessible and inclusive transit system

A new Universal Accessibility Plan has been adopted to guide our approach to accessibility throughout the regular and paratransit systems.

Workshops with regional organizations and STO multi-sectoral teams, as well as a public consultation, were instrumental in its development.

The Plan is broken down into different measures: communication with and information for customers, infrastructures and equipment, partnerships with organizations, training and service improvements.

It integrates federal and provincial obligations regarding universal accessibility.

The Accessible Canada Act requires the STO to also prepare a plan that proposes improvements in the following areas:

  • employment;
  • the built environment;
  • information and communication technologies;
  • communication, other than information and communication technologies;
  • the procurement of goods, services and facilities;
  • the design and delivery of programs and services; and
  • transportation.
